研究方向:

1) 植硅体研究:通过对中国不同种类现代植物植硅体分析,建立了我国植硅体分类系统,建立了水稻、黍、粟等农作物以及野生-驯化植物植硅体鉴定标准;通过对中国不同气候带现代土壤植硅体分析,明确了中国不同气候带土壤植硅体组合特征;开展了植硅体碳封存和植硅体碳-14测年研究等。奠定了我国植硅体学研究的基础。
2) 古气候定量:系统地开展了我国陆相古气候定量恢复研究工作。通过对中国不同气候带现代土壤植硅体、孢粉、土壤磁化率、有机碳同位素等多指标现代过程分析,建立了我国表土植硅体、孢粉组合等与气候参数和植被类型的定量转换函数,建立土壤磁化率与气候参数的函数关系,建立了我国现代土壤有机碳同位素空间分布与气候的关系,在此基础上系统开展了中国第四纪不同时间尺度古气候、古植被定量重建研究。
3) 孢粉学研究:在系统开展我国现代表土和第四纪湖泊、海洋、黄土、青藏高原孢粉分析基础上,明确了黄土高原地质历史时期基岩山地、沟谷和塬面古植被的差异;揭示了青藏高原那曲地区250万年来植被变化的孢粉学证据;明确了我国季风区千年、百年、年代际周期性气候变化过程,揭示了近百年气候变暖叠加于500年自然周期暖相位的过程; 发现并解释了我国东部冰消期海、陆气候变化的不同步现象等。
4) 环境考古研究:利用植硅体、花粉、淀粉分析等手段,对我国陕西、河北、河南、长江三角洲地区、西藏、新疆罗布泊等地区重点考古遗址,开展了环境考古和农业考古研究。揭示了周期性气候变化、4.2千年气候事件等与文化文明演替的关系,开展了海岸带-大陆架环境考古研究;提出了BA-YD资源压力-农业起源新机制,在上山文化、磁山文化、裴李岗文化等稻作、旱作农业考古方面取得了新认识。开展了青海喇家遗址4000年前古代面条成分分析,鉴定了1800年前丝绸之路穿越青藏高原的茶叶证据。
